The Bayless Fellowship is awarded to graduating seniors who expect to pursue graduate study, internships, volunteer opportunities and/or careers in any media or communications field represented within Vanderbilt Student Communications. The Fellowship, made possible by a generous gift from Skip Bayless, A&S ’74, is designed to recognize and support exceptional students as they transition from Vanderbilt to essential roles in media.

Fellowship recipient(s) will have been active participants within student media at Vanderbilt who demonstrated a strong work ethic, resilience, integrity, commitment to collaboration, inclusivity, and a positive attitude. Candidates will submit an application, an essay and a resume. Recipients will be determined by the Awards Committee of the Vanderbilt Student Communications Board of Directors.

The Bayless Fellowship awards $5,000 to each selected applicant. Recipients will join a community of fellows who will be expected to informally check in with VSC during their post-graduation year experience. Successful applicants are selected on a merit basis, not based on financial need.

The deadline to apply is April 2. Applications may be submitted using this online form.
