VSC STUDIOS
Vanderbilt Student Communications is home to studios in the Sarratt Student Center designed to support podcasting, video podcasting, music recording and video production. VSC student media organizations receive scheduling priority, but any Vanderbilt undergraduate student may reserve unused studio time on a first-come, first-served basis.
Here are a few rules to remember:
-
Use of studio space is limited to enrolled undergraduate Vanderbilt students
-
Reservation requests must be submitted at least 48 hours in advance
-
Students are limited to two reservations per week and only two at a time (no advance booking multiple or repeat reservations)
-
Reservations are limited to two hours (may be extended day of reservation pending availability)
-
Studios are for active recording only: no rehearsals, meetings, or other use
To request a reservation, click on the button below to access Vanderbilt’s EMS space management system. When a reservation is approved, the student will receive an email with studio access instructions and basic information on how to use the equipment and software. A member of the VSC Staff will let you into the studio and offer very basic instructions, but will not be available to assist, record or audio engineer your project. To ensure you get the quality results you want, please take time to familiarize yourself with audio/video recording & editing techniques using YouTube or other tutorials before reserving a studio.
Studios are monitored by security cameras and personnel and checked after each reservation. Students who misuse studios, intentionally change or negligently damage technology (moving wires, altering software or physical configuration, removing equipment) will be subject to referral to VU Student Accountability.
